"We are Water"

The primary goal of “We Are Water” is to optimize the existing drainage basin and storm water retention pond to educate children and families about stewardship and ecology of water. The play yard concept is centered on original public art in the form of a large interactive watershed map.

The watershed map tells the story of the interconnections of water from the student’s neighborhood to Lake Minnetonka, Minnehaha Creek and the Mississippi River to the oceans of the world. A river pathway flows through the site from the map to the sand and water play, a farm pump and streambed and rain garden.
